Students feeding giraffesWhile studying animal behavior in the classroom, Zoology students took a field trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. They were able to observe animal behaviors that were both innate and learned with the expertise of the private tour guide. Additionally, students learned about the large variety of career opportunities associated with zoos. Most importantly, students were able to see first hand the impressive conservation programs in place at this particular zoo, which underscores the importance of maintaining our planet's biodiversity by protecting endangered/threatened animal species.

The class enjoyed feeding the giraffes, observing the penguins up close, and seeing the baby hippopotamus!
